Identifying Novel Therapeutic Compounds for ARPKD Using Drug Repurposing
Supervisors: P. Goggolidou & S. Ali
ARPKD is a life-threatening genetic disease affecting neonates and infants, with no curative treatments currently available. This project uses high-content drug screening on well-characterised mouse-derived cell models to identify promising repurposed FDA-approved compounds.
Investigating the Role of Cilia and Ciliogenesis Dysregulation in the Diagnosis and Progression of Paediatric Brain Tumours
Supervisors: P. Goggolidou (Reader in Molecular Genetics) & A. Karakoula (Senior Lecturer in Pharmacy)
Recent studies on glioblastoma biopsies reveal that many tumour cells have a reduced number of cilia. This project investigates whether ciliogenesis dysregulation drives paediatric brain tumour progression, using patient-derived cells and cutting-edge imaging and sequencing approaches.
